What makes BHCS stand out from other counseling practices?
At BHCS, we don’t see clients as broken or lacking. Instead, we focus on their strengths—those special qualities that help them reach their best life, or “Quality World.” Everyone experiences anxiety and depression sometimes; it’s part of being human. But at BHCS, we understand these feelings as signals—symptoms that may come from untreated or misunderstood neurodivergent brains and from choices we didn’t get to make.
We pay close attention to “masking,” which means hiding parts of yourself to fit in. Masking can make diagnosing and understanding a person tricky. By creating a space filled with empathy and safety, our clients feel free to be their true selves. This honesty helps our counselors truly see the person in front of them and helps clients recognize both their challenges and their unique strengths. That’s the BHCS difference.
BHCS is dedicated to providing neurodivergent affirming care to all individuals. We provide diagnostic evaluations for all populations ages 6 and up.
BHCS is veteran owned and operated and highly value our community member’s sacrifices they make to place effort towards a better lived experience for themselves and others.

At BHCS, we combine standardized screening tools with thoughtful, in-depth interviews. Our goal is to understand your experience and identify the diagnosis—or diagnoses—that best explain it using DSM-5-TR criteria.
Start & Forms
You’ll complete consent and demographic forms first. Your scheduled Clinician will then send brief, research-based questionnaires (screeners) to gather initial information and help focus your interviews.
Pre-Assessment Visit
In this first meeting, your Clinician collects your health history, including:
Education and work
Family and relationships
Medications and physical health
Sensory and developmental history
Substance use and sleep
Current concerns
Clinician Review
Between visits, your Clinician scores and interprets your screeners and notes from the pre-assessment. This guides what to explore more deeply in the next session(s).
Assessment Session(s)
Using DSM-5-TR standards, we rule out conditions that don’t fit and look closely at those that might. If a condition meets the required criteria and best explains your lived experience, we document that diagnosis.
We may also discuss helpful, commonly referenced traits not listed as DSM-5-TR diagnoses—such as:
Alexithymia (difficulty identifying and describing feelings)
Emotional Hyperarousal (intense emotional responses)
Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (strong sensitivity to perceived rejection)
Post-Assessment Visit
Your Clinician reviews your diagnostic impressions, answers initial questions, and offers simple “health-literacy” prompts to help you ask the questions that matter most to you.
Your Packet
You’ll receive:
A written report
Diagnosis and treatment plan
Starter resources tailored to your needs
Follow-Ups & Ongoing Care
We offer optional 3-month check-ins so you can process information and return with questions. You can continue therapy with your diagnosing Clinician or another BHCS counselor, depending on schedules.
We don’t try to “fit” you into a label. Instead, we use evidence-based tools and collaborative conversations to rule out what doesn’t apply and clarify what does—so your plan reflects you.
